The Department of Marathi was established in 1970. The department runs undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Marathi has been taught as disciplinary component, ancillary component, composite component, and applied component. In the graduate program students has elective choice, postgraduate program is same. But choice based credit system is implemented for P.G. from 2020-21 academic year. The faculty from the department constantly keeps motivating students for co-curricular and   extracurricular activities. Since 2015, the department celebrate ‘Marathi Bhasha Sanvardhan  Pandharavada’ and ‘Marathi Bhasha  Gaurav Din’ .Marathi department also organized easy writing competitions, Kavi Sanmelan, Gust Lectures  during the academic year . Every year Marathi department visit to ‘Sadanand Sahity  Sanmelan  Audumbar’ and students are made interested about Marathi literature .
