It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to this first college for Women in Southern Maharashtra established on 15th June, 1970 by our mother institute Shri Gujarati Seva Samaj, Sangli affiliated to Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thakersy (SNDT) Women’s University, Mumbai, and recognized under section 2(f) and 12(B) of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
The sole aim of our college in to cater to the needs of higher education for women of rural, Semi-urban and urban students in and around Sangli city. “Strishaktirbalayasi” that is empowerment of women through quality higher education is our moto.
Our college provides an opportunity to our students to explore their potential in the sphere of higher education. At Junior level we have 11th and 12th Arts, Commerce and H.S.C. Vocational Courses.
At graduate level we have Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com.) and Bachelor of Computer Application (B.C.A.) three year degree course and at Post-graduate level Master of Arts (M.A.) and Master of Commerce (M. Com.) two year post-graduate programmes. We also provide an opportunity to our students to pursue Short-term career oriented courses such as Spoken English, Fundamentals of Computers, Journalism, GST, Stock Market Analysis, Travel & Tourism, Yoga, Cookery, Dietetics, Fashion Designing etc. Our college has well equipped Home Economics Lab, TLC (Textile, Laundry and Colthing) Lab, Modern Women’s Gymnasium, State of Art Computer lab with fiber net connectivity with Wi-fi facility in the campus.
Our college have highly qualified and research oriented faculty very enriched library, spacious building, beautiful playground and very good academic ambience. We strive hard for overall personality development of our students through curricular and co-curricular activities and inculcate good human values in them.
We have National Cadet Crops (NCC) unit of 50 cadets of 6 Maharashtra Girls Battalion, Kolhapur and National Service Scheme (NSS) of 300 Volunteers. We also have Rotract Club in our college associated with Rotary Club of Sangli. Through these extension and neighborhood activities, students are provided exposure to social issues and contribute towards development of neighborhood community and imbibe in them the spirit of nationalism.
Our students have proved themselves standing high in the merit list of our University Examinations. In Sports and cultural activities our students have reckoned at state, National and International levels.
Our College accredited with B+ grade in 2004 and reaccredited with B grade in 2012 by NAAC Bengaluru. Now our college is Reaccredited with B++ grade in the Third cycle of reaccreditation in the year 2022.
We strive hard to create conducive environment in the college for imparting quality education for empowerment of women.
We are trying our best to provide every support to our students to realize their potential and avail the new opportunities and accept the challenges in this fast changing competitive world.
