National Service Scheme:

          The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian Government –sponsored public service programme controlled by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sport of the Govt. of India . NSS scheme was launched in Gandhiji’s Century year in 1969.

Motto of NSS

Not me but You! is the motto of NSS. Our college NSS unit has been working to fulfil this motto and the various objectives of NSS from the inception of this scheme in our college. We have been working to utilise the youth power for social change and always trying our best to inculcate the feeling of social work among our students. We have undertaken various regular social activitiesto  promote the social awareness among students through our NSS programme . We are trying to create social sensitization among our volunteers.

Objectives of NSS

  1. To utilise the youth power for social change
  2. To develop the sense of social responsibility among the students.
  3. To understand themselves in relation to their community
  4. To identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in the problem solving process .
  5. To develop the leadership qualities among students.
  6. To help the society in any kind of natural disaster, such as flood, draughts , cyclone and pandemic

Responsibilities of NSS Committee

  • To make enrolment of NSS volunteers.
  • To work as per the guidelines received time to time from DSW and from SNDT University, State Govt. and Central Government.
  • Orientation of volunteers.
  • Organizing regular NSS activities
  • Organizing Special Camp at adopted village.
  • To make essential correspondence with University and Government.

Activities of NSS

There are two  major parts of NSS activities
  1. Regular Activities: These activities have been organised throughout the academic year. Volunteers have to complete 120 hours for the social work.
  2. Special Camp : Every academic year one special camp have to organised in the adopted village . Duration of this camp is seven days, and this camp is residential camp.

In the year 2021-222 NSS volunteers have undertaken various regular activities. Details are as following.

  • Organized a Covid preventive vaccination Camp for N. S. S. Volunteers on 5th January 2022
  • Rangoli competition was organized on 14th December 2022 under the theme Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and three winners were announced.
  • Essay competition was organized on 18th January 2022 on the occasion of National Voter’s Day
  • On January 19th 2022, an elocution competition was organized on the occasion of National Voter’s Day.
  • On 25th January 2022 National Voter’s Day a lecture was organized on the topic of Democracy and Voting Rights by Hon. Mrs. Shilpa Oswal Assistant District Supply Officer Sangli. Also, college volunteers and NSS program officers were present at Collector Office, Sangli for this program.
  • On February 21st 2022, college and college campus cleanliness campaign was conducted in which NSS all volunteers participated.


In the year 2022-23 NSS volunteers have undertaken various regular activities. Details are as following.

1. N. S.S. Enrolment of volunteers was done.

2. N. S. S. “Environmental Awareness and Cleanliness Week” was organized by the volunteers on 7th June 2022 to 13th June 2022.

3. On 21st  June 2022 International Yoga Day was celebrated with enthusiasm

4. Various programs and competitions were organized under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav from 13th August 2022 to 17th August 2022, including patriotic song singing, National Unity Rally, Har Ghar Tiranga, Rangoli Competition, Essay Competition, Poetry Recitation Competition etc. The closing ceremony of this ceremony was conducted on 17th August 2022 by dignitaries of Shri Gujarati Seva Samaj, Sangli.

5. On 27th August 2022 the college and college campus cleanliness drive was conducted, NSS volunteers participated in it.

6. On the occasion of National Nutrition Week on 6th September 2022, a guest lecture organized on “Adolescent Diet” by Smt. Rajalakshmi Patil.

7.  On 24th September 2022, College premises cleanliness drive was conducted by NSS volunteers. 

8. 24th September 2022, NSS Day  was Celebrate in our college.  Prof. Dr.Amol Patil, and NSS Zonal Coordinator Dr. Shobha Pawar guided all the volunteers.

9. On 27th and 28th September 2022, the NAAC Peer team visited the college for which the volunteers of NSS department presented a street play.

10. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was implemented from 10th to 12th October 2022. In this Activity large number of volunteers’ activity participated.

11. On the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on 31st October 2022, “Rashtriya Ekta Daud” was organized in the college . A large number of volunteers participated.

12. NSS Special Camp was organized from 9th January 2023 to 15th January 2023 to adopted area ward no.10 S.M.K. Municipal Corporation the main them of Camp Skill  Development  

13.  25th January 2023, a large number of NSS volunteers from our college participated in the cycle rally and human chain organized by the Collector’s Office and the Election Officer Sangli.

14. International Women’s Day celebrated by NSS Unit. The lecture was conducted Prof. Adv. Pravina Shah.
