Shri Gujrati Seva Samaj Sangli, Sanchalit Smt. Champaben Balchand Shah Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Sangli was established in 1970, specially to cater the special needs of women & girls belonging to rural areas and poor families. It is the first girls’ college in southern Maharashtra founded by Shri Gujrati Seva Samaj, Sangli. It is affiliated to the S.N.D.T. Women’s University, Mumbai. The college has achieved B++ accreditation by NAAC. Since its inception, it has been known as reputed and quality-conscious college.     The college provides wide range of professional and vocational courses for women to meet the changing socio-economic needs. This college in its course has developed different wings such as Junior, Senior and post-graduate wings. At present the strength of the college is near about 1200.At Junior wing. Arts , Commerce and M.C.V.C. courses are available. At Senior wing, B.A., B.com. and B.C.A. courses are available. At P.G. Level M.A. and M.Com. courses are available. Marathi, Hindi, English History, Economics and Sociology are special subjects for post graduation in Arts whereas Advanced Accountancy, Costing and Taxation are special subjects for post graduation in Commerce. The college in addition to its regular courses, does conduct many enrichment courses useful for women and girls such as Beauty Cultures, Dieting, Food and Nutrition, Tailoring, Fashion Designing, Catering, Mehandi, Rangoli, Banking , Flower Arrangement etc .Various U.G.C. sponsored short term course on subjects like Journalism, Travel and Tourism, Spoken English, Saral Hindi, Yoga, Fundamentals of Computers,  Dietician etc. are conducted regularly for the benefit of the students. The results of the college have been significant ever since. Our students are regularly standing in merit list of University consecutively. The college has provided various infrastructural facilities like well developed Library, IT Laboratories for M.C.V.C. and B.C.A., Ladies Gym, Home Economics Lab., and spacious playground.

             We have a respectable heritage of Principals from the beginning of the college. The chair had been honored by the personalities such as Dr. L. S. Tengse, Dr. Nishikant Mirajkar, Shri. S. V. Herlekar, Shri. N. N. Relekar, Dr. Smt. T. C. Bhavalkar, Dr. A. S. Parkhi, Dr. Smt. H. M. Kothari, Dr. B. S. Babar, Shri. S. G. Dhole, Dr. P. R. Pawar and Dr. S.N. Khilare consecutively.

            The college has a glorious heritage of its achievements and is now firmly footed with a team of about 60 devoted teaching and non – teaching staff members. Now, Dr. S. N. Khilare is the Principal of the college and under his able guidance the college activities are being carried out for the academic excellence and quality education in our college.
